Meet the Founder

Hi, I'm Lauren — creator and owner of Outback Hound.

In 2018, my husband and I took a leap of faith and started Outback Hound with one simple goal: to create dog gear we trusted to safely adventure with our own pups. We wanted products that were functional, comfortable, durable, and thoughtfully designed — the kind of gear we struggled to find ourselves.

We are a military family currently based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and the values that come with military life — reliability, resilience, and adaptability — are woven into everything we create.

From Humble Beginnings

Our journey with Outback Hound began on the island of Guam in 2018, where we were stationed at the time. After adopting our second pup from a local shelter, we began introducing her to the island's rugged trails. It didn't take long to realize that the dog gear available to us simply couldn't keep up. It wore out quickly, lacked thoughtful design, and didn't hold up to constant use in real outdoor conditions.

That's when the idea sparked: Why don't we make our own?

We set out to design quality gear with all the features we wished existed, gear built to last, built for comfort, and built for adventure. After months of designing, sourcing, and hands-on product testing (with our dogs proudly serving as guinea pigs), we created our first line of Outback Hound products — made for ruff, muddy, everyday adventures.

Where We Are Today

Today, Outback Hound has grown to include leashes, collars, harnesses, and accessories trusted by dog owners around the world. We are proud to supply a growing network of retailers across the United States and serve customers who share our passion for exploring life alongside their dogs.
